The Tower of terror 2 is an awesome steel shuttle roller coaster that is based at Dreamworld amusement park in Queensland Australia. When the ride made its debut on the 23rd of January 1997,  it was the first ride to reach speeds of 161.9 kilometers per hour, making it the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world. Just the look of it makes your legs quiver!  It’s a giant free fall ride that was originally known as the Tower of Terror until it was modified and relaunched in September 2010.

The steel and concrete structure cost an astonishing $16 million to build. Before it was relaunched , the ride featured a smaller tunnel, a rigid lap bar using a hydraulic locking system and would carry 15 passengers at a time. The ride now takes 14 passengers.  Which I can imagine this must have been terrible for those annoying queue times.

In 2010, the ride is 3rd in the tallest roller coaster rankings, 3rd in the tallest roller coaster drop rankings and 4th in the fastest roller coaster rankings.

The construction and opening of the ride required a ridiculous amount of people with a lot of effort involved. The ride has more than 600 metric tons of steel, 3500 tons of concrete, 175 concrete trucks, 3500 liters of paint and over 16,000 bolts which hold the structure together. A plaque was devoted in its honor detailing its introductory, as the tallest and fastest ride in the world! It does not suprize me that it got the award, as a lot of work did go into it.

I love the beginning of this ride! You’re inside a tunnel with flashing red lights making you feel like you’re in a battleship, ready to take off from its escape pod. It then accelerates at a crazy 161 kilometers per hour with a maximum of 4.5Gs thrusting you backwards to the top of the tower. As you’re at the top of the tower your eyes are glaring across the whole theme park, only to know in a matter of mili seconds you will be rushing down at twice the speed you went up. The ride is only duration of 40 seconds but the thrill itself looks worth it!

I travelled round Australia for a while and I’m gutted we never drove through Queensland because the first thing I would of done is go to dreamworld!
