The Ravine Flyer 2 is a fantastic hybrid wooden rollercoaster which is located at Waldameer Park in Eire Pennsylvania, in the United States. Amusement Today Magazine ranked it as one of the best new rides of 2008 and I can see why. The original Ravine Flyer was knocked down in 1938 to be replaced by Ravine Flyer 2 but this was only because a man was killed. Talk about a thrill ride! Many custom designs were made for the new rollercoaster in 1990s but one genius called Dennis McNulty developed the Ravine Flyer several years later. It was finally finalized and rebuilt by The Gravity Group with Jeff Mason.

If you like wooden rollercoasters and you like drops, then this will be the one for you. Till this day, it still holds the record for the tallest wooden rollercoaster drop. Falling at a gut dropping 115 feet which makes it the largest wooden rollercoaster drop in North America.

Not only is this a great rollercoaster but it also has great features. Huge steel supports, great scenery as your whizzing around and to make the ride that little more exciting, it also has two dark tunnels. It hits a maximum speed of 60 Mph (97Kmh) flying round huge turns. One of the turns has an awesome 90 degree angle which looks very thrilling.

I have never been a fan of wooden rollercoasters as they have been known to be very bumpy rides but I do have to say that this one looks quite exciting. The total height of this ride is 80 feet and the duration of this is a one minute and thirty seconds long. It’s not the longest of rides but like I said, I think this is definatly for a wooden rollercoaster enthusiast.
