The Firehawk roller coaster ias a steel Vekoma flying roller coaster! I do love these flying coasters! It’s in Kings Island based at Cincinnati, ohio. It was actually originally built at Six Flags World Adventure as X-Flight in the year 2001, the ride was manufactured by Vekoma. Due to low attendance at Geauga Lake, and fans of Kings Island wanting a new thrill attraction, Cedar Fair pulled the ride to pieces after the 2006 season, and sent it to the south to Kings Island. In February 2007, Kings Island said that the ride was coming to the park, set to open Memorial Day weekend.
X-Flight’s neon green track and dark gray supports were re decorated and painted red and steel gray respectively. The coasters trains are now red and yellow. Firehawk officially opened on May 26, 2007, in time for Memorial Day weekend. The second track, did not open until the following weekend, on June 9, 2007.
During the ride’s first year at Geauga Lake, there were three trains, but ever since, there are only two trains on the ride. The third train has become a parts donor for the first two trains.
The ride can only take 800 riders per hour. Which means……….long queues! If you watch the POV Video at the bottom of the page, I certainly think it’s worth the wait.
A visitor died after riding the Firehawk. According to the parks statement, the man was having trouble breathing when the train returned to the station. Employees that work for the park responded and treated him at the scene, and then he was taken to the hospital where later that evening he died of a heart attack. The park said that pre – existing health conditions are the leading cause of trouble on amusement park rides, which is why parks advise against riding if you have health problems. I have seen people in such terror before riding on coasters but never to this extent!
Millions of Americans have health conditions they don’t know about, due to the variety of reasons , including lack of inadequate health insurance.
